Blog- An abbreviation for weblog, a blog is a web page or collection of web pages usually maintained by a single person in a journal-like format with most recent entries, or “posts” being at the top area of the screen. You are currently viewing a blog page.
Podcast- A method of publishing audio and video files to the Internet for playback on mobile devices and personal computers. Popular applications for podcasts are adding an audio or video recording on a website that can be downloaded and played later. Often syndicated to registered interested parties via RSS.
RSS- RDF Site Summary, or Rich Site Summary, or Really Simple Syndication. A lightweight XML format for distributing news headlines and other content on the Web.
Social bookmarking- A web-based service that allows users to share a list of bookmarks with others. This is an example of a Delicious bookmark list on the subject “homework”.
Tag (metadata)- keywords assigned to describe content on a web page in order to make it easier for other people or search engines to find information.
Tag cloud- a list of all the tags used within a single blog or page. Many tag clouds make tags larger the more entries they have. Below is an example of a tag cloud created from the Safari Museum’s home page.
